Strategies and Opportunities for Translation and Implementation Science among Diverse Populations

The dissemination and implementation of proven scientific discoveries, evidenced-based reviews, and guidelines in real world settings have yet to be fully realized. Most clinical practice guidelines are not based on rigorous reviews of research evidence and few evidence-based interventions have tested the scale-up and sustainability among diverse populations. This presentation discusses implementation science methods and metrics, particularly specific to behavior health, and heart, lung blood and sleep disorders, for use in the real world community and practice settings, which are sorely needed. Opportunities to build research and training for implementation science and funding announcements at NIH will also be presented as models to build successful implementation science which includes diverse researchers and engaged community partners.
